100 Foods To Eat Before You Die

If you're on Facebook, chances are high that you've seen the Food List Challenge being passed around. The makers of the app say, "We think most people will have tried fewer than 20 of these 100 foods to eat before you die." Which I'm sure is just a ploy to get people to click on something that will allow a third party to read their personal information. Being the ornery person I am, I found the list floating around the internet instead, which I present to you below in all its glory.

SquirrelWhat I've seen is that most people have actually eaten around 30-50 of the items on the list, not 20. Like any good overachiever, I come in at 91/100 - only good for a lowly A- that would earn the ire of my Asian parents. (Just kidding. We're grading on a curve here, right?)

Here's the list - post how you did in the comments!

  1. This is impressive. Understatement.

If you get snake, don't do it Amarillo, TX at the restaurant with the cowboy that several stories tall. It's a tourist trap of skinny, meatless snakes.

  2. Thanks for posting the list. I saw it on Facebook, but didn't want to use the app to look.

I had a kangaroo burger in Coffs Harbor, AUS...I thought the meat was really gamey. Too dark and earthy for me.

  3. Living in Brisbane, Australia my family and I eat kangaroo steaks almost every week. The meat is very lean and it does taste a bit gamey compared to other red meat however it is good for you and also good for the environment. http://www.macromeats.com/Nutrition/AmazingNutritionFacts.aspx

and if you are in Sydney then a visit to The Australian Hotel is a must. Their kangaroo pizzas are awesome http://www.australianheritagehotel.com/

  4. Any list that doesn't include guinea pig is not complete. If you are ever in Peru, try it. It's the national meat and is delicious.

  7. Happened upon this again somehow. I have now tried currywurst, which doesn't deserve to be on such a prestigious list: hot dog with a sorta special sauce.
